Evan Jones graduated from Juniata College with a BA in Ceramic Art in 1976. After studying with the ceramic artist and poet, Jack Troy, he apprenticed with Vernon Owens at Jugtown Pottery. After having traveled and resided in India for several years, Evan relocated to South Florida in 1983 and returned to working with clay.
As his work evolved, Evan acquired large scale throwing skills in response to his interest in working on architectural scale. An interest in the teapot form grew into large scale sculptural works featured in a 6-page cover article of Ceramics Monthly, November 2004.
Since June 2004, Evan has been designing and operating Evan Jones Studios, a 6,000 sq. ft. working studio in Dania Beach, Florida. A commission for unusual outdoor containers resulted in a new direction, creating and producing a line of architectural planters. Presently, Evan's work continues to be refined by using mixed media, complex glazes and post-fired finishes to create unusual vessels of form and function.
